Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #17 - Guy Stuff

.
Hi

Thanks again to everyone who has sent emails with well wishes for my Parents and I. My Dad is making a slow but steady recovery. He continues to improve a little everyday. Mum tells me now he is able to hold a cup with his good hand and sip without any help. The poor guy has spent more time in hospital over the years than any one I know, but he has a real fighting spirit so we are hopeful that he will make an almost full recovery.

On to brighter news, it's time again for Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge. This week it is all about the Guys to coincide with Kenny's release of some fantastic new images just perfect for those masculine cards.

It was my Husband's birthday a few days ago so this theme was definitely well timed for me.

I decided to try my hand at making a pop up card and used two of Kenny's new images for this card which my boys gave to their Dad.

The image I have used on the front of the card is called "Cookie Guy"

Inside the card I have used "Super Hero". Inside sentiment reads "but we think you're SUPER".

The sentiments are computer generated.

Head over to Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog now to check out the rest of Team B's fantasic cards. You have a week to link up your cards and remember to use any one of Kenny's images to be in the running to win.

Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #16 - 2 x 2

.
Hi

It's so good to be home!!

What a big week it's been! As many of you are aware, Saturday before last my Dad had a major stroke. I brought forward my planned holiday and rushed off to Adelaide to be with my parents. My Dad is still in a pretty bad way and my poor Mum is at the hospital all day every day. I spent the week in Adelaide staying with my Mum and it was really heartbreaking to see my Dad, who is such strong, independent and intensly private man, so helpless.

I did however still manage to enjoy the holiday that my son and I had been planning for so long. (Some of you may remember the original holiday was postponed when my youngest son came down with chicken pox). The hospital in Adelaide is so well located. All the attractions like the Zoo, Museum, river boat cruises, botanical gardens etc are all within walking distance.

I only arrived home this afternoon, so it will take me a few days to settle back in to my routine and get around to visiting all your blogs to say hi.

But I do want to tell you about this weeks Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge.

Now for this week’s challenge – 2 x 2.  We would like to see you use 2 of something, or 2 of everything!  So 2 papers, 2 ribbons, 2 flowers, etc.  Don’t forget the prize is 5 digi stamps from Kenny K of your choice – but to be in the draw you must use a Kenny K image please.

Head on over to the Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog and check out the fabulously tallented Team A's creations that are definitely going to get you all inspired.

A quick update

.
Hi

This is the second post for today, please scroll down to see the post for Kenny K's Krafty Girls Challenge.

I just wanted say a big thank you for all the support and emails both my Mum and I have received. It has been truly appreciated.

I arrived in Adelaide this morning and rushed straight to the hospital unsure of what to expect, thankfully there has been some improvement for my Dad overnight. He is speaking now although it is still very slurred and hard to understand. He has weekness on his left side and still has problems with swallowing. The doctors will do another scan either tonight or tomorrow and hopefully then we will know more.

Thanks again for all your kind thoughts.

Bad News

.
Hi

I just wanted to hop on here quickly to let you all know that I may be away for a week or so.

I had a call from my Mum early this morning to say my Dad had a stroke and was rushed off to Hospital. The next 24 hours are critical.

I had a holiday planned to see them in the next couple of weeks with my middle son but now we are flying out very early tomorrow morning.

I have a post scheduled for Sunday for the new Kenny K challenge. Depending on how things go with Dad I may or may not be able to log on and do the Make It Monday but I will as soon as I get home next week.

Catch up with you all soon.

A quick thank you card

.
Hi

I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.

I have been trying to get ahead on my blog posts at the moment in preparation for my little trip to Adelaide to see my parents at the end of the month, YAY!!

DH is staying home to look after the oldest and youngest boys while our middle son is coming with me for his first plane trip. I took our eldest to Sydney a couple of years ago and he had a ball so I thought it might be nice to have a little one on one time with our middle son this time.

I had some scraps left over on my desk this afternoon from a card I had made for an upcoming challenge ( come back on Sunday to see it :-D) so I decided to whip up a quick thank you card (cause that is so much more fun than tidying up). With the end of the school year fast approaching I'm going to be needing a few thank you cards and gifts.

Sorry the photo is really bad, I don't know what is up with my camera at the moment. I must have accidently changed some setting on it.

For this card I have used the following:

Cardstock - Close to Cocoa, Brocade Blue and Very Vanilla from Stampin Up
Designer Paper - Retired Stampin Up
Stamp - Pocket Silhouettes from Stampin Up
Ribbon - Brocade Blue and Very Vanilla from Stampin Up

Thanks for stopping by today.

with this beautiful card

Stunning right?!

Monica is one incredibly creative lady. She has made these beautiful little roses herself. This card was made using gorgeous handmade cardstock and papers.

Monica has a real talent for using all natural elements on her cards as you can see here in one of her latest creations.

Being in Indonesia Monica does not always have lots of supplies readily available to her but she still manages to create the most beautiful cards that she sells for charity. Her blog is definitely well worth a visit. Say hi to her from me when you pop on over to visit.

Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #14 & New Release

.
Hi

Well, here it is Sunday again, am I the only person who feels like they are on a runaway roller coaster heading straight for the end of year?!

It's not all bad though, that's for sure, cause this week over at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog it's all happening!! Kenny has whipped up some more totally AWESOME  digi's for you, just in time for Christmas. Not only has be produced some fabulous new images but he has created some Christmas themed accessories to go with some of the already existing images, how cool is that!!

This weeks theme for the challenge (hosted by the extremely talented Team A) is wait for it................

CHRISTMAS

Lol, how perfectly coincidental......not!! Now you are just going to have to grab yourself one of the fabulous new releases to play along (no, you don't HAVE to but I know you're gonna want to :-D).

Of course I have played along again, just can't help myself.

I have used the new accessories for this first card and with some directions from my wonderful teamie, Paola, I used Photo.net to merge them with Bodacious Bev.

Sorry the photo is pretty poor, don't know what's up with that. If you click on it to zoom in it is much clearer.

I was really pleasantly suprised by how easy it was to use Photo.net to merge the images. Paola put me on to a great tutorial here for those of you that are interested.

Now I have a second card for you, ( that doesn't happen very often). I have used the new SANTA for this one.

All these images are just so much fun to colour.

Well, that's my cards for you. Head on over now to Kenny K's shop and pick yourself up some of his fantastic images and get creating!! He even has a new FREEBIE for October. This one's a sneak peak of next years new release.

Then go check out the incredible cards Team A have for you this week over at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge blog.  Remember if you use one of Kenny's images you will be in the running to win some free digi's.

Thanks for stopping by today. I will try to pop around tonight to see what you have all been up to.

Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #13 - Bling It On

.
Hi

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

It's challenge time again over at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog. We saw loads of fabulous entries in last weeks Sketch Challenge. It is so great to see so many of you joining in each week.

This week Team A is on the job with a new challenge for you to "Bling It On" So go on, break out that bling and shiny up your cards.

As usual I decided to join in and this is what I came up with.

Now bling is not my strong point. I don't have a big stash of it (not for a lack of wanting it) and what I do have I lack the finess to use it to its full potential. But with the help of all inspiring blogs I visit I am slowly learning.

I used a sheet of green shiny foil like paper that my wonderful Mum sent up to me a while back which doesn't really photograph all that well. And I made the flowers using black cardstock and my SU Five Petal flower punch and Boho Blossoms punch. I sprayed the large flower with some Glimmer Mist.

I didn't have any black ribbon so I just used my Black Copic to colour some white ribbon and tied a silver heart charm in the bow.

I picked up this fab colour for the hair from my Design Team Buddy, Cheryl.

I'm pretty happy with the final result. Kenny's images are always so much fun to colour. This image "Rock Chick" is available here

Head on over to Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog now to check out Team A's amazing cards.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Paper Cubed (P3) October Challenge - Acetate

.
Hi

Wow, 1st October. That's just crazy. My boys start school on Tuesday for their 4th and final term for this year. It's a 10 week term and then it is the 6 week Christmas school holidays!

Why didn't time go this fast when I was at school?! That's what I'd like to know!!

Good news is though, it's time for another challenge over at Paper Cubed (P3). Something a little different for you this month. We want to see you create something using Acetate.

It's been a bit hectic here this month with my boys all taking turns being sick, first one down with Chicken Pox then two down with Gastro. Also one of my brothers who I haven't seen for 15 years came to stay for a week with his family, soI found myself a bit short of time to create anything elaborate this month and in the end I decided to use my big shot for this one and create an acetate pillow box.

Sorry the photo is a bit ordinary, really hard to photograph acetate.

It thought it would make a nice table place setting for Christmas day. This one just has silver beads in it but you could fill it with chocolates or after dinner mints.

I put my Mum's name on it. Kind of wishful thinking that we could be together for Christmas.

I am excited though as I have rebooked the tickets for my son Luke and I to travel to Adelaide in a few weeks to see my parents. Yay!! Last trip being cancelled due to my youngest son coming down with a case of  Chicken Pox.

Now head on over to the Paper Cubed Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the teams inspiring creations and put your thinking caps on to come up with your own acetate project to submit. You have a whole month so there's no excuse not to join in the fun!!

Thanks for stopping by today.
